T2S enables emergency RoRo and General Cargo operation in JBS's N4 system with a customized solution.

JBS needed to take over RoRo and General Cargo ship operations from another port operator in the Port of Itajaí on an emergency basis, as the ships were already en route to the port. To enable these operations without immediate availability of a dedicated RoRo and General Cargo system, T2S was called upon to develop a tailored solution.

Context

JBS needed to take over RoRo and General Cargo ship operations from another port operator in the Port of Itajaí on an emergency basis, as the ships were already en route to the port. To enable these operations without immediate availability of a dedicated RoRo and General Cargo system, T2S was called upon to develop a tailored solution.

The Challenge

Before the project started, JBS's terminal did not handle general cargo operations, such as vehicles and loose cargo. The limitation was the lack of dedicated systems for other processes, which prevented proper registration and control of this new type of operation. The urgency arose from the prohibition of ship operations, originally destined for the SC Portos operator, by order of the Federal Revenue.

Objective

The main objective was to allow JBS's terminal to operate with general cargo within the Navis N4 system from Kaleris, along with sending information to the Recintos API and the Itajaí port authority, using only the existing container module. The Brazilian Federal Revenue would only authorize cargo operations with proper system integration.

The Solution

In a short period of two weeks, the T2S team developed and implemented a series of customizations to the N4 system interface. The main actions included:

Customizações no gate do Navis N4 para permitir o fluxo de entrada e saída das cargas gerais;

Integrações com a APS (Autoridade Portuária de Santos, atualmente operando a parte pública do Porto de Itajaí) para assegurar a comunicação entre sistemas;

Extração de dados para a API Recintos, viabilizando a conformidade com a Receita Federal do Brasil.

The technologies used included Java (Groovy) and .NET, employed to ensure maximum flexibility and performance in the client's environment.

Results

T2S delivered a fully functional solution, allowing JBS to start its general cargo operations on an emergency and immediate basis. And the main result:

Operação bem-sucedida de navios RoRo e navios de vergalhão, com rastreabilidade e conformidade;

This case reinforces T2S's commitment to delivering creative, efficient, and personalized solutions, even in the face of technological and budgetary limitations, driving innovation and adaptability in the port sector.

"The partnership with T2S was fundamental for us to enable, in record time, an urgent RoRo and General Cargo operation in the Port of Itajaí. The T2S team demonstrated great agility and technical expertise in adapting the N4 system to our needs, ensuring compliance with the requirements of the Federal Revenue and the port authority. The quick and secure delivery allowed JBS to carry out one of the largest logistics operations in the sector, reinforcing our commitment to efficiency and innovation." Stated JBS IT manager, Amandus Muller.
